Mandala Theatre-Nepal is going to restage its classic hit production of Sunkeshari at newly built Mandala Theatre at Thapagaun, Kathmandu from Friday, 4th November to 13th November 2022. Written by late Satya Mohan Joshi, Sunkeshari is the first original play staged by Mandala in its own auditorium at Anamnagar a decade ago. In 2012 November, Mandala had started its first theatre hall as a place to stage regular theatre shows with the play Sunkeshari. The original production of play was opened then during the Kathmandu International Theatre Festival 2012. Now, the play has been produced as the batch production of Mandala’s 3 month long theatre course Theatre Lab 10. The student production of Sunkeshari is being staged as the pre-festival play for 2nd Nepal International Theatre Festival 2022.
Sunkeshari is based on a folk tale of Karnali Province. The play features the story of a beautiful girl and her experiences of bittersweet moments and journeys in her life.
