Aesthetic Dance Studio is going to host the fourth season of its widely admired dance event- Nritya Shrinkhala on Monday, 15th August 2022 at Mandala Theatre, Thapagaun.
Nritya Shrinkhala is an event cum movement initiated by Aesthetic Dance Studio to preserve the culture of storytelling by promoting the practices of regular dance shows in Nepal. Nritya Shrinkhala collaborates with novice and established dance artists to bring different stories on stage in the form of dance expressions. Aesthetic Dance Studio has already successfully organized two seasons of this event in Kathmandu and one in Pokhara this year.
With the title Chaturanga, literally meaning four colors, the fourth season of dance series Nritya Shrinkhala aims at spotlighting and reflecting upon women’s issues in Nepali society. As Chaturanga is also known as a strategic game, and the word is defined as a battle formation in classic epic Mahabharata, our show will try to intervene in contemporary issues of violence, discrimination, and abuse towards female through storytelling. With classical Kathak dance performances, the show will not only raise the issues but also bring forward ideas and visions to make a better society to be lived by all genders, castes, religions, and identities.
The one-day dance event will showcase various stories through classical dance form Kathak and one special piece of performance would be called Chaturanga which will demonstrate four phases of women’s lives and portray their vision in four colors. There will be altogether 5 different dance pieces performed by 21 student dancers of Aesthetic Dance Studio. All the performance pieces would be designed and choreographed by Namrata KC, Founder and the Artistic Director of Aesthetic Dance Studio.
