Charandas Chor is a Nepali adaptation of same-name Indian play (The Honest Thief). The play has been written by Habib Tanvir who is a famous playwright, theatre director, poet and actor from India. The story of the play is derived from a famous Rajasthani folk tale which charts the tumultuous life of a petty thief. The play has been produced many times in different ways in India by different directors. In Nepal, the play has been designed as folk play (original style by the playwright) and has been staged many times in different parts of Nepal.
