Mandala Theatre-Nepal is a dynamic group of young theatre artists committed to leveraging the transformative power of theatre for social justice, healing, and public awareness. With a focus on exploring and preserving Nepal’s traditional and indigenous theatrical forms, Mandala has continuously worked to engage diverse communities through innovative theatrical methodologies. One of our most impactful tools for public outreach and awareness and strength is “Junkiri,” our mobile theatre truck, which allows us to bring theatre directly to communities, especially those lacking access to traditional performance spaces.

In alignment with the objectives of the “Support to the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (S2GESI)” in the health sector in Nepal project implemented by GIZ and the Government of Nepal, Mandala Theatre-Nepal is implementing a pilot project designed to enhance health awareness and social inclusion among marginalized groups, including women, persons with disabilities, Dalits, people living with HIV/AIDS, and ethnic and religious minorities.

Through this project, we aim to contribute significantly to the goals of the S2GESI strategy by fostering awareness, encouraging community action, and celebrating the successes of marginalized groups in accessing quality health services. With the innovative use of our mobile theatre bus Junkiri during the street theatre performance and introducing interactive games to increase awareness throughout the project, and strong partnerships with local stakeholders, we are confident in our ability to make a meaningful impact in the selected municipalities.
